Hygiene

Hygiene in general refers to a measure taken to prevent the spread of disease that could be harmful to life.

Talking about hygiene, this varies because what is considered in one culture might not be considered in another.

Hygiene is known as a branch of science that deals with preservation and the promotion of health, hygiene is being equated with “cleanliness,’ but hygiene is a broad term that includes personal habits choices such as a frequent bath, changing of clothes, trimming of finger nails, etc.

A regular hygiene habits may be looked at or considered as a good habit while the neglect of hygiene can be considered as disgusting, to have a 99percent feeling of a healthy platform of the way we live our lives, hygiene should be a day to day practice.

The term hygiene includes the following:

Body hygiene: This is basically a precaution taken to make sure everything about the body is being double checked both internal and external. E.g. washing of hands regularly, bathing at least three times daily, eating freshly made food, washing of fruits and ensure they are fresh before intake, cleanliness of under wears and clothes in general.

Mainly Babies should be taken into consideration because they are very tender and prone to infections, precautions should be taken when a baby is present.

Hands should be washed before carrying the child, money or gift should not be given to the baby directly.

Mental hygiene: This deals with the study of psychiatry that helps to prevent mental disorder.

Public hygiene: This simply explains the precautions needed to ensure sound health in communities, offices, markets, churches, schools, public places in general as the name implies.

Medical hygiene: This relates to how clinical materials in general should be taken care of to prevent the spread of diseases in and outside a hospital.

Occupational hygiene: This simply provides a useful awareness as to how every equipment in a field or work place should be taken proper care of to reduce risk of Contacting any form germs and diseases that could be harmful to persons that make use of the equipment in a certain field.

Sleep hygiene: This simply explains the ways to take care of apparels that is used to sleep, it also goes further to explain measures to be taken before bed time.

E.g. brushing of teeth before bed time, taking a shower before bed time, etc.

If all these measures could be put into considerations or carried out conveniently as brought to you by tour Africa, then proper hygiene in general will be achieved.
