The Seat Of The Fallen Agia Tree

This monument is significantly remarkable for being the tree where Christianity was first preached in Nigeria by Thomas Birch Freeman and Henry Townsend in September 24, 1842.

History has it that the Agia tree that has lived for over 300 years was uprooted by a strong storm on June 20, 1959. For the sake of history, the Agia monument was then erected to celebrate the 170 years of the existence of Christianity in Nigeria.

Note that the Agia tree has the history of being a 160 feet (49 m) tree with a circumference of 30 feet (9.1 m).
